After your session: how you receive your photos (and why it takes a little time)

Once the camera is packed away, another part of the work begins. Here's what happens between your session and the moment you open your gallery.

In short
  • Every image is selected, then edited by hand, for a cohesive series.
  • You receive a private online gallery to share with your loved ones.
  • For a wedding, allow 8 to 15 weeks: that's the time real work on every photo takes.

People often see the session as the main event. In reality, it's half the work. The other half happens afterward, in front of my screen, and that's what gives your photos their cohesion and softness.

What happens after the session

  1. Backup: as soon as I'm home, the files are copied in several places.
  2. Selection: I sort through every image and keep only the ones that tell a story, with no duplicates or closed eyes.
  3. Editing: light, color, the harmony of the series, small temporary imperfections. Every image is worked on, without altering faces.
  4. The gallery: you receive a link to a private online gallery.

Why it takes time

Because a cohesive series doesn't come from slapping on a filter. The same scene can be lit differently from one minute to the next, and I go back over every image so the whole set holds together. For a wedding, with hundreds of photos and very varied light, I allow between 8 and 15 weeks. For sessions, I give you the exact turnaround when you book.

The problem

You can't wait, and you'd love to share a few images with your loved ones as soon as possible.

The solution

Let me know ahead of time, especially if there's a specific occasion (an announcement card, a birthday, someone moving away). We'll talk it through to see what's possible.

A real-life example

Picture newlyweds sharing their gallery with their families. The grandparents, who don't use the internet much, can simply open the link on a tablet, watch the slideshow and order their favorite print, no USB stick required.

My tip

Download your photos as soon as you receive the gallery, and keep a copy on two different devices. An online gallery isn't a vault that lasts forever: for a wedding, it stays online for one year.
